It is easy to travel to Uganda’s Murchison Falls National Park.

The Nile river crossing at Paraa, in the park’s heart, is about a 512-hour drive from Kampala by road (305km).

The direct route from Masindi to Paraa is 85 kilometers.

The rift valley escarpment above Butiaba provides stunning views across Lake Albert on a longer (135km) alternative route that passes through Budongo forest.

Chobe Gate near Karuma Falls, Tangi Gate near Pakwach (25km to Paraa), and Wankwar Gate near Purongo are all options for getting to Paraa from the north.

At Paraa, a vehicle ferry crosses the Nile.

With the exception of 13.00, this runs every hour between 07.00 and 19.00.

Murchison is also accessible by air.
